Mentoring Workshop online event

Target Group: PEPA Mentors and Palliative Care Specialist Staff

Mentoring is defined as a relationship between an experienced and a less experienced person in which the mentor provides guidance, advice, support and feedback to the mentee to support their future experience and growth.

The aim of the workshop is to develop current palliative care health professionals to support generalist health care professionals to understand the value and importance of working with a palliative approach to care.

This workshop is designed for palliative care specialist staff who wish to mentor and share their palliative care knowledge with others and further develop their own:

• Culturally Responsive mentoring practices

• Communication Skills

• Feedback Skills

• Reflective Skills

• Ability to discover / develop talent and skills in others that comes from a positive mentoring relationship

Following the workshop, participants should be able to:

• Identify principles for culturally safe, supportive mentoring, in the context of palliative care

Facilitator: Sue Cosgrove has a background in Nursing with qualifications up to a Master level. She has experience working in health education, training and health management. She continues to develop her Leadership skills using Coaching and Mentoring methodology which she has studied with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Sue is passionate about supporting people to be the best version of themselves and knows this can occur in positive mentoring work environments.
