The Standard Mental Health First Aid Training is provided by Mildura Rural City Council free of charge for up to 20 residents who live, work or study in the Ouyen region.

Mental health first aid is the help provided to someone who is developing a mental health problem, has a worsening of an existing mental health problem or is in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. Mental health first aid strategies are taught in evidence-based training programs authored by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Australia and conducted by an accredited MHFA Instructor.

What is covered:

MHFA courses can provide members of the community with: Skills in how to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, knowledge of the possible risk factors for these mental health problems, awareness of the evidenced based medical, psychological and alternative treatments available and skills in how to give appropriate initial help and support someone experiencing a mental health problem.

Where: Ouyen Service Centre, 79 Oke Street, Ouyen VIC

When: Tues 8th & Tues 15th June 2021

Time: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Duration: 2 days (it is essential that participants attend both days of the course)

*Attendees must be aged 18 years and older.
