35 Stirling Highway University of Western Australia Crawley, WA 6009 AustraliaThis course involves a combination of online (eLearning) followed by 2x2.5 hour online workshops (on different days - May 10 and 11 respectively) in order to enable staff outside of the Crawley campus, or who are otherwise off campus, to participate.
*Please note: The Instructor-led virtual sessions are live meetings conducted over the internet using video conferencing software (your Instructor will provide a link for you to the platform they use).
As a participant you will need a quiet location where you will have privacy. You can attend via your computer or tablet as you will need to be able to read the screen easily. The Instructor needs to be able to see and hear you for you to participate in the training therefore access to a camera and a microphone for the duration of the session is mandatory. If your computer doesn’t have a microphone or camera built in you can still attend via your computer but will need to be also on camera using your smart phone or tablet at the same time.
This course teaches staff how to provide initial support to people who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. It is comprehensive, covering all common mental health problems and crisis situations.
Please note that the online learning takes 4-6 hours and must be completed prior to attending the online workshops as pre-requisite learning.
