Mental Health First Aid Course (12 hour standard program)
Sat., 05/08/2017, 8:30 am – Sun., 06/08/2017, 5:00 pm AEST
Do you wish you were more knowledgeable and confident to support loved-ones, clients and friends with mental health challenges?
Mental Health First Aid is the initial help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. MHFA is not about diagnosing or telling people what they should do to get better. It is about being confident to assist a person and support them to access the help they might need.
Rosie Overfield from Mindpod is an experienced counsellor, educator and MHFA Instructor. She will guide you through the 12 hour Standard program, covering depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance misuse. Crises include suicidal thoughts and behaviours, panic attacks and psychotic episodes.
Held in the beautiful grounds of Glenn Vista Place, this 2-day course will include your own MHFA Kit (180-page colour manual and local mental health resources). Additionally, all participants can enjoy a juicing demonstration (and fresh juices) with Certified Juice Therapist, Vicki Doolan.
