Mental Health Awareness Afternoon Tea
Sat. 22 April 2017, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm AWST
Our heart as an organisation is to help individuals and families suffering with or trying to cope with a loved one who lives with mental health issues. This afternoon tea is to help educate and provide coping mechanisms for people with mental health issues and we have Mental Health professionals providing advice on how to deal with depression.
It is always difficult when faced with a person struggling with a mental health condition and often not knowing what to say or how you can help or what supports are out in the community that you can connect them and their families to.
We believe that increasing awareness and removing the stigma attached to mental health will encourage people to talk about their issues and realize they are not alone. Participants will be encouraged to speak up and seek assistance, helping them become more involved in the community, with the potential to prevent suicide and self-harm. We also aim to foster greater awareness within the mainstream population, generating empathy and better acceptance towards those who struggle with these conditions. Our guest speakers will be Tasha Broomhall from Blooming Minds.
