Event description
A 2-day workshop on using NVivo 12 for your research. Day 1 covers NVivo Essentials, and Day 2 explores Advanced NVivo functionality.

About this Event

Arm yourself with the tools you need to delve deeper into your research data and achieve transparency in your research methodology to take you closer to getting your research published.

The workshop runs over two consecutive days from 9am to 5pm on both days.

Day 1:

This hands-on workshop is a basic introduction to NVivo 12 and will provide you with the information and practice you need to get started with your own project. It's perfect if you're new to NVivo, or if you'd like to refresh your NVivo knowledge. Using sample data, you’ll create a project in NVivo and will work with a range of material such as documents, PDFs, audio, video, pictures, spreadsheets and web data.Introducing NVivo and setting up a project

  • Introducing NVivo’s workspace
  • Creating and navigating around a project

Importing and Coding Documents

  • Importing documents including PDFs
  • Creating memos and annotations
  • Introducing ‘nodes’ to collect data to support the themes, topics or ideas you identify in the data
  • Working with node folders

Working with your themes and ideas and shaping your findings

  • Viewing your emerging themes, topics or ideas and their content
  • Understanding how and where content is being assigned and fine tuning this
  • Moving, merging and aggregating your themes, topics or ideas

Importing and coding other items

  • Importing image and media sources
  • Importing datasets and web data

Exploring your data

  • Using text analysis tools including word frequency and text search queries
  • Storing and exporting your results

Day 2:

The second day of the workshop covers more advanced concepts and queries. The NVivo Advanced workshop includes the following:

  • Building good coding schemes and hierarchies
  • Cases, attributes and classifications for people and organisations
  • Mapping your data
  • Matrices and cross tab queries
  • Visualising your data
  • Writing up your results

Please note: We need a minimum number of participants to run the workshops therefore we cannot confirm if a workshop will go ahead until 14 days before the event - we advise that you do not book travel and accommodation until you receive a final confirmation from us that the workshop will go ahead. If you do, we cannot refund this.

Lunch is not included. Accommodation is not included.

If you'd like to attend just the NVivo Essentials workshop, or the NVivo Advanced workshop, they are also available as one-day workshops, here on Eventbrite.
