Event description
Living Edge presents Tasmanian born London-based furniture designer Brodie Neill - a pioneer in sustainable product design.

About this event

As part of Melbourne Design Week 2022, Living Edge presents Tasmanian born London-based furniture designer Brodie Neill - a pioneer in sustainable product design with underlying sensitivity to form and material. Join Living Edge for a live interview with Brodie Neill discussing his recent work with Hydrowood, a sustainable reclaimed timber sourced from the flooded lakes of central Tasmania. A special edition Cowrie chair made from Hydrowood will be on display in our showroom as well as an installation of the material.

About Brodie NeillBrodie founded Made in Ratio in 2013, a self-designed and self-produced furniture brand. In 2016, Brodie Neill represented Australia at the inaugural London Design Biennale at Somerset House with a critically acclaimed installation Plastic Effects, where he launched his now iconic Gyro table.

Previous notable designs by Brodie include the Gyro table (London Design Biennale 2016) and the Flotsam series (London Design Biennale 2017) featuring fragments of inlaid recycled ocean plastic creating a terrazzo effect. Also, the Capsule hourglass, a contemporary hourglass filled with microplastic instead of sand to highlight the issue of ocean plastic pollution.
