Event description

Description

Meg Keneally discusses writing The Monsarrat series with Tom Keneally, and her new project. Discover the research and process required to place a fictional crime story within historical place and times.

Meg Keneally joined her father, Tom, to write The Monsarrat series when he presented her with a long-abandoned draft about a gentleman convict-turned-detective, and suggested they complete it together.
There are twelve historical crime novels planned in the series, with each one set in a different Australian penal settlement.

Meg will be interviewed by Dael Allison, a local writer and editor currently undertaking a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Newcastle. Her research focus is the published literatures - fiction, memoir fiction, poetry and theatre - of the Newcastle region.
