WORKSHOP: MEETING THE NEEDS OF DIVERSE LEARNERS

November 6, 2017 4.30 –6.30pm

No cost; afternoon tea provided from 4.15pm

Differentiated instruction is the key to purposeful student engagement. Students are individuals who learn at different rates and in different ways. Individual differences may influence the way students react to instruction, affecting how they demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of a particular subject.

This has serious implications for teaching, assessment, planning and programming because students are diverse in a multiplicity of ways. Teachers must consider this diversity to ensure that their teaching purposefully engages all students. This is challenging, but essential in providing equitable instruction, aimed at ensuring students' learning success.

This short learning module will help you:

  • develop strategies to get to know your students and how they learn
  • look at the importance and practicalities of selecting appropriate resources
  • explore strategies for differentiating instruction, in the planning stage of teaching

Suitable for:

  • Classroom teachers
  • Support teachers
  • Support staff
  • Curriculum coordinators
