Overview

Ian Burow is a local fifth generation farmer with 31 years’ experience. Ian's business, Green Drop Organics, has been growing sustainable organic and biodynamic crops on the same farm for more than 50 years. Ian's passion is teaching people how to grow nutritious food, drawing on his extensive knowledge of the science of soil. In this workshop, Ian will focus on soil, soil and soil!

This workshop is for gardeners, farmers, landscapers, and anyone interested in sustainable agriculture.

You will learn about:

  • The important role of minerals in our soil and why they are needed to produce quality food
  • Some hands-on tips on how to decide what’s missing in your soil
  • Tips from the expert farmer on what to do when you notice deficiencies in your soil.

The day will include:

The workshop will be two hours long and will consist of an information session followed by Q&A.

The knowledge you will take away:

Following this workshop, you will understand how to interpret the signs of soil deficiencies and what to do to bring you soil back to a thriving, life-giving resource. You will also gain an understanding of the invisible work undertaken by a host of micro-organisms, minerals and nutrients in the soil: these are your silent workforce in your goal to grow nutrient-dense veggies.

In addition, you will meet a lot of other people who share the same passion of growing organic food in abundance.

Note: This workshop will cater for an adult audience, and requires a minimum 10 participants to proceed. It is the second in a series of 3 workshops presented by Ian Burow.

What does the waitlist do?

If the workshop sells out you can add your details to the event waitlist. In the event of a cancellation, we will look at our waitlist for the next in line. We will also use this to notify you of when/if this workshop will be held again, so please register your interest in advance.
