Event description

Ian Burow is a local fifth generation farmer with 31 years’ experience. Ian's business, Green Drop Organics, has been growing sustainable organic and biodynamic crops on the same farm for more than 50 years. Ian's passion is teaching people how to grow nutritious food, drawing on his extensive knowledge of the science of soil. In this workshop, Ian will focus on building fertile soil, which is the foundation for any successful food production.

Is this workshop for you?

Do you have an existing food garden but would like it to be more productive?

Would you like to learn how to build soil fertility?

Do you want to find out more about producing more nutrient-dense fruit and veg?

This workshop is for gardeners, farmers, landscapers, and anyone interested in sustainable agriculture.

You will learn about:

  • Combining the best of chemistry, physics, biology and microbiology with sound management practices
  • Addressing and solving weed, disease and insect pest problems at their root causes rather than merely masking the symptoms with poisonous chemicals
  • Maximizing yield, quality and food nutrition potentials
  • Useful ideas to get your plants to respond and produce nutrient dense food

The day will include:

The workshop will be two hours long and will consist of an information session followed by Q&A.

The knowledge you will take away:

Following this workshop, you will understand natural food production methods with an emphasis on sustainability and soil improvement. You will also gain an understanding of the invisible work undertaken by a host of micro-organisms, minerals and nutrients. You will be armed with the knowledge to support your own food growing aspirations – no matter how big or small.

In addition, you will meet a lot of other people who share the same passion of growing organic food in abundance.
