Description

Join us as we welcome Australian Top Ten and USA Today bestselling fiction author Victoria Purman (The Land Girls, The Last of the Bonegilla Girls, The Three Miss Allens) and poet, author and bookseller, Molly Murn who will introduce her first novel, Heart of the Grass Tree, at our opening night!

Victoria Purman:

Victoria Purman will talk about The Land Girls, a moving story of love, loss and survival against the odds. Set amongst the backdrop of Melbourne in 1942 when war has engulfed Europe, the Pacific and Australia is fighting for its future, The Land Girls – Flora, Betty and Lilian – embrace their new world of close-knit community and backbreaking work as they do their bit for the war effort as members of the Australian Women’s Land Army.

Molly Murn:

‘There is something about this place, its expansiveness, its wind-rush, its sea-howl that makes everything we hold tight just fall away. This place – Kangaroo Island, South Australia…..’

Heart of the Grass Tree by Molly Murn is an exquisite, searing and hope-filled debut about mothers and daughters and family stories, about country and its living history. Poetically written, it beautifully unfurls the shared history between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people on Kangaroo Island, and delves into the complexities of this little known story.

Cheese platters provided. Beer & wine available for purchase thanks to pop-up bar, Sourc'd.
