Event description
Join Dr Chris Alderman, Pharmacologist, for an insight into ‘Medication side effects and the possible impact on work performance'

About this Event

People are prescribed various medications that can be used to address specific symptoms, to treat and prevent the progression of chronic disease, reduce the progression of symptoms, and other purposes. A potential concern for employers is that medications can cause side effects such as drowsiness or impairment that can impact an individual’s capacity for work.

Dr Alderman will provide examples of the potential side effects and interplay with co-morbid conditions that can occur with the prescription of drugs such as opioids, antidepressants and pregabalin (Lyrica). A number of case studies will be discussed, including advice on when a medication review could help to understand the needs of an individual.

A sit down breakfast will be provided at the presentation, please see below the options:

• Platter Freshly Baked Danishes and Croissants

• Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Grilled Tomato, Hash Brown, Sautéed Mushrooms and Toast (individually plated to each guest)

• Selection of Chilled fruit juices

• Freshly brewed Lonsdale Street Roasters coffee and selection of teas

Please email eventsact@mlcoa.com.au with details of any dietary, physical or access needs.
