Event description

Description

You’ve worked hard and no doubt you want to make sure your loved ones are looked after now, and well into the future.

But did you know that roughly 70% of inheritances go ‘L-shaped’? Too often money intended to be ‘passed down’ to a partner or children is redirected ‘sideways’. Perhaps your surviving spouse remarried and left it to a new partner or you left it to your child and they’ve used it to settle bankruptcy or a divorce.

There are many ways that ‘L-shaped’ inheritances can occur, but there are also various strategies to avoid them. Plus, you may not realise that your superannuation, life insurances, joint and trust assets don’t fall under your will and need to be planned for separately. To make planning ahead easier, Media Super invite you and a guest to a seminar on estate planning on Tuesday, 21 November.

Hear from experienced and knowledgeable estate planning specialists, Ann Janssen and Josh Philo from Estate First Lawyers, who will explain your options and show you how to prevent an ‘L-shaped’ inheritance happening to your family.

Take advantage of this opportunity to listen to and ask questions of two of the industry’s leading experts so you can plan ahead for greater peace of mind.

Speakers

ANN JANSSEN AND JOSH PHILO

Ann and Josh are both from Estate First Lawyers, founded by Ann in 2009. With six senior lawyers, it’s the largest practice of its type in Queensland.

Areas of expertise include testamentary trusts in wills, advising blended families, strategies to minimise tax in estate planning, asset protection and avoiding estate claims, as well as estate planning for companies, superannuation and trusts.

Ann is a Qld Law Society accredited specialist in succession law and Josh has a Master of Laws. Both have been practicing exclusively in this area of law for many years and they are passionate about estate planning and helping clients achieve the best inheritance plan possible.
