About this event

Come meet us and get some career advice at one of our info sessions. TAFE is an inclusive place to learn and have fun while you do it! You'll graduate with a fantastic portfolio of work, and all the skills you'll need to work in the media industry.

We offer Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses where you can learn awesome stuff .

Our information sessions will be running online using MS Teams (this works best in Chrome, or the MS Teams App).

Statement of Attainment in Radio and Journalism Fundamentals

This Fee-Free course introduces students to the foundations of good media production: writing, research and interviewing. You’ll learn blogging and social media, MoJo (mobile journalism), photography, and radio and TV presentation. You also have the opportunity to publish work on our student news site Off Campus, or broadcast live on TAFE Radio.

Certificate IV in Screen and Media focused on Journalism

The journalism steam introduces students to the foundations of good journalism and media production: writing, research, interviewing and ethics. You have the opportunity to publish work on our student news site Off Campus.

Certificate IV Screen and Media focused on Radio Broadcasting

The radio stream gives students skills in writing, researching and programming for commercial, community and public radio. You’ll learn the technical skills of production, recording and editing audio for broadcast. Students broadcast live and produce podcasts for our station, TAFE Radio.

Certificate IV Screen and Media focused on Social Media

The social media stream gives students skills in making and publishing content for online and social media platforms, and develop strategies for engaging audiences. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with radio and journalism students, and to publish to our student news site, student radio station and associated social media platforms.

Certificate IV Screen and Media focused on Radio and Journalism (Part-time evening)

This course introduces students to the foundations of good media production: writing, research and interviewing. You’ll learn blogging and social media, MoJo (mobile journalism), photography, and some radio and TV presentation. You have the opportunity to publish work on our student news site Sydney TAFE Media.

Diploma of Screen and Media focused on Journalism

Diploma of Screen and Media focused on Radio Broadcasting

Diploma of Screen and Media focused on Social Media

This course is an intermediate, practical course, focused on contemporary and future looking journalism practices; and/or the various aspects of radio broadcasting. This course builds on skills from the Certificate IV Screen and MediaYou will learn advanced interviewing skills, video and audio journalism and multimedia storytelling. You will be helped and encouraged to apply for work experience and internship positions, and opportunities exist for editing the student news site Off Campus or taking leadership roles in the student radio station TAFE Radio and the associated social media accounts.In the journalism stream, you will extend your writing and editing skills; in the radio stream you will continue learning every aspect of radio production and presentation; in the social media stream you will develop strategies for managing online communities and engage audiences.

Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Radio and Journalism)

This course is an intermediate-to-advanced level, building on the skills from the Diploma. It focuses on the various aspects of innovation in media, with a specific focus on radio, journalism and online media. You will continue use analysis of media industry practices to design, develop and implement an innovative media project. You will develop your storytelling techniques for a variety of platforms, including radio and online, audio, video and multimedia production. You will develop one or more major pieces for your portfolio. Opportunities exist for taking leadership roles in the student radio station TAFE Radio and online news site Off Campus.
