Media and communication masterclass

Tuesday 2 August 11am - 3pm and Wednesday 3 August11am - 3pm AEDT.

Our media and communication masterclass will help you find the story in your research and learn how to achieve media coverage that is true to your science AND engages your audience.

This workshop is based on our full day on-site workshops, modified for online delivery and with a smaller group size.

Journalists from television, print and radio join us to explain what makes news for them.

You will get the chance to ask questions and to be interviewed by journalists, get feedback and practical advice.

The course covers: television (with practice interviews); radio (with practice interviews); handling tricky questions and staying out of trouble; print and online media; developing your communication plan; social media and becoming an ‘expert’.

Each masterclass is conducted in small groups of four to six participants and delivered over two half days.

The course will be run by two of our presenters:

Niall Byrne: 32 years’ experience in science story telling including strategic science media and communication, pitching and crisis communication.
