Be able to establish practice policies to ensure that Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander consumers are identified and recorded in patient record systems, so as to recognise specific health and cultural needs and entitlements for this patient group.
Understand the historical impacts on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and the current barriers to providing equitable services to this community.
Examine assumptions and stereotypes based on the portrayal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the media and reflect on how that may reinforce opinions and behaviours.
Recall and identify the specific programs and services available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients in primary health care. (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health checks, GP Management Plans/ Team care arrangements, CTG scripts, Care Coordination and Supplementary Services).
