Event description

Description

Presented in conjunction with the Ballarat International Foto Biennale Maziar Moradi exhibits at the Goethe-Institut Sydney. The exhibition opening is followed by an artist talk by Maziar Moradi.

Photographer Maziar Moradi has received several awards for his photographic works, his works are well-known in Germany as well as abroad with exhibitions in Arles, Amsterdam and Washington.

After a very successful exhibition and artist in residence at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale 2017, his exhibition titled "Ich werde deutsch" translated: "I Become German” is now touring to the Goethe-Institut in Sydney.

Maziar's powerful exhibition explores the personal experiences of young people who were forced to leave their countries and start anew as immigrants in Germany. In addition, it captures those who were born in Germany but have grown up under the influence of their families’ experiences, fates and losses of young immigrants.Moradi invited immigrants in Germany to re-enact key scenes of their personal biography, turning them into actors performing their own stories.

Please join us for the official opening with artist talk on Thursday 1st of March 2018 at 6pm at the Goethe-Institut in Sydney. Entry is free, but please register here on eventbrite. Introduction by Fiona Sweet, Director of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. Artist talk hosted by Dr Ella Dreyfus, artist,
photographer and Head of Public Programs, National Art School.
