May Gibbs: Celebrating 100 Years
Event Information
Description
Join curator Alison Wishart for a floor talk discussing May Gibbs and her creations.
In December 2016 we celebrate 100 years since the publication of May Gibbs’ Gumnut Babies and Gum-Blossom Babies. Two years later, with the publication of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie: Their Adventures Wonderful, she became Australia’s best-known and most enduring children’s book author and illustrator. Her popularity meant that unlike many artists and authors of her era, she was able to make a living from her creative work.
A selection of original artworks is on display in the Amaze Gallery until 15 January 2017 and reproduction artwork is on display on level 1 of the Macquarie Street building until 26 February 2017.
