FAQs

How many participants are allowed per tour/booking?

Tour groups are limited to a maximum of 20 participants per tour. A maximum of 2 tour groups (40 participant tickets total) are available during each time slot. Larger groups may wish to book across multiple time slots and are welcome to do so.

How many adult supervisors are required for school groups?

One adult is required to accompany each group of 20 students, and adults are expected to supervise students at all times including during tours and independent study. Choose the number of supervising adult tickets needed on the booking form.

Should tour participants join State Library?

Yes! Membership is free and available to all Queensland residents, and has many benefits including free access to databases, digitised collections, streaming movies and video training courses. Members can book study rooms and Edge window bays, and save searches and tag items in the OneSearch catalogue. Group memberships are not available. Fill in our short membership form before you arrive.

Can we reserve and borrow materials for independent study?

Yes! Items in the Information Collection are available for loan to upgraded (borrowing) members. Ask your tour participants to become online members ahead of time, and upgrade memberships during your visit. Book the number of “Membership Cards” needed, and be sure to allow time at the end of your tour to have borrowing cards printed at the Level 3 desk.

What special conditions are there for borrowing?

Young people 16 years and over need both proof of age and a current, non-school residential address to upgrade to borrowing members. Those 15 years and under need to bring a signed and completed parental/guardian consent form. This form is required only if the young person wishes to borrow materials, and is not required for general membership or access to materials.

How can I contact Schools Engagement with any questions?

Call or email us on 07 3840 7768 / learning@slq.qld.gov.au.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the tour?

No need to print or bring your ticket.
