Event description

Description

Join us for the opening of Max Dupain: The architecture of UNSW, a new exhibition in UNSW Library’s Exhibitions Space on level 5 of the Main Library.

During the 1960s, when the University and its surrounds were going through a period of major development, UNSW’s main photographer of record was Max Dupain one of the leading figures of 20th century Australian photography.

This exhibition is drawn from photographs collected by the University Archives from the roughly 140 jobs Dupain carried out for UNSW. These photographs vividly attest to the artistic vision of their photographer, demonstrating Dupain’s characteristically modernist treatment of line and form in architectural photography.

Opening remarks:
Katie Bird, University Archivist
Honorary Associate Professor Catherine De Lorenzo
