Maths Problem Solving – Using logic to solve problems (Bright Minds Years 4-5)

Logic is a system of reasoning that helps you to make decisions. You can use it to explain and justify the conclusions that you make. The more you practise using logic, the better you become at it. During this workshop students will learn to solve logic puzzles, and learn the skills to solve problems that involve analogies, deduction, syllogisms and logical reasoning.

Location: Queensland Academies, Science, Mathematics and Technology Campus (78 Bywong Street, Toowong)

Date: Thursday 15 March 2018 (4.00 pm – 5.30 pm)

Students are required to wear comfortable clothes, enclosed shoes, with hair tied back, and bring a drink. All other materials are supplied.

This workshop seeks to:

  • explicitly explore the concept of function
  • strengthen independence skills
  • provide students with the opportunity to develop thinking skills including those associated with metacognition.
