DATE 22/23 May 2021

TIME 10am - 4pm

VENUE Lions Club Hall, 8 Russell Drysdale Street, East Gosford

Material Thinking: The Poetics of Process is presented by artist/printmaker Glen Skien as a print-based workshop that blends printmaking, collage and assemblage works. The outcomes are guided by a combination of intuitive and experimental approaches to printmaking methods. Designed around the artist’s personal studio practice participants will be instructed in a variety of print techniques including dry- point etching, monotypes, photographic transfer, and collage-based responses.

Using ephemera materials and the photographic image in combination with print- based methods, participants will be made aware that all materials are embedded with a range of associations that help form cultural, historical, or personal narratives.

Having relocated from Mackay to Brisbane in 2007 to complete both his Masters and Doctorate of Visual Arts, Glen has gained a national profile as an experienced instructor and has maintained his practice as an exhibiting artist for almost three decades. His studio practice embraces a mix of limited-edition artists’ books and traditional printmaking with elements of collage, found objects and assemblage.
