This masterclass will cover over 50 years of Indigenous cinema from one of the women that has been a trailblazer in creating works that speak to an Indigenous voice of resilience and culture.
Alanis Obomsawin is one of the world’s leading documentarists and a living legend of Indigenous cinema. Her astounding body of work has left an indelible impact on the Canadian psyche, and she remains a leading force in film production in Canada and for many Indigenous filmmakers around the world.
An activist filmmaker, Alanis has always been driven by a desire to give Indigenous peoples a voice.
Her list of accomplishments is profound. A tireless force, Alanis continues to develop and direct new projects.
At 85 she is presenting at Winda her 50th film "Our People Will be Healed" and we will also play one of her
most iconic films at the festival "Kanehsatake:270 Years of Resistance". Please come join us for a masterclass to be remembered.
