Mount Lofty Botanic Garden’s Fern Gully is the most comprehensive in-ground fern collection in the world. In this advanced, hands-on Master Class you will learn how to propagate ferns compatible with South Australia’s climate, using spore and vegetative techniques from the Botanic Gardens of South Australia’s expert, and former Fern Curator Dr Nicky Fiddler.
Commencing with a field study at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden internationally renowned Fern Gully, this Masterclass will cover the scientific principles of fern growth and propagation and also include demonstrations of growing media preparation and a range of propagation techniques.
Dr Nicky Fiddler will not only teach you different techniques but also share with you, her knowledge and expertise, leading to a deeper understanding of fern physiology and propagating media and tools.
Ideal for fern enthusiast, horticultural students and keen gardeners who would like to expand their knowledge in growing this fascinating group of ancient plants.
At the end of the day, participants can take home the plants they have made during the class.
