Description

The Padre Masterclass Series is a set of classes designed as an all encompassing sensory training experience. The Masterclasses are ideal for anyone looking to develop their sensory skill set, coffee knowledge or considering sitting the Q-Arabica exam.

Each Masterclass draws upon an element from the Q-Grading course and is hosted by our qualified Q-Grader and trainer Chrissy. The exercises within each class are modelled to the specifications and protocols as outlined by the Coffee Quality Institute and Specialty Coffee Association of America.

Green Grading & Defects

This Masterclass is an exploration of an important aspect in the production of specialty coffee - defects. The class begins with an analysis of defects found in green coffee (and the process used to categorise and grade them), followed by a practice green grading exercise.

Continuing the focus on grading and defects, we will also hold a guided cupping offering our full-series ticket holders the opportunity to practice further calibration, and for all attendees to experience cupping as held in the Q-Arabica course. Presenting a table of 6 coffees, participants will be guided through the correct use of the SCAA cupping form to identify defects in cups and objectively grade coffee.
