Event description

Description

Professor Katharine Adeney, Director of the Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies at the University of Nottingham, will lead a Masterclass for PhD students in the Bell School and in the College of Asia and the Pacific on using quantitatively sourced data in support of qualitative research analysis. Dr Abidah Setyowati, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of International Relations in the Bell School, will co-convene this Masterclass. Prof Adeney and Dr Setyowati will reflect on their experience – and the benefit and pitfalls – of using numerical data and statistical concepts in their own research which ranges across political science, comparative politics, political ecology and human geography.

This Masterclass is open to PhD candidates working primarily in a qualitative framework (in any CAP discipline) who are keen to understand and/or develop their skills in using ‘numbers’ and quantitative data. CAP Early Career Researchers are also welcome to attend.
