MEET JANI ON YOUTUBE:
DAY ONE - (FRI 5 MAY 2017)
10:30 - 12:00 Vinyasa Flow Master Class
Jani's signature high-vibrational power vinyasa class will leave you feeling strong and empowered in mind, body and spirit. You will build heat as you flow breath to movement. This class includes sun salutations, core strengthening, balancing, and inversion postures. Modifications and variations will be cued so students of all levels have the opportunity to explore their edge.
12:30 - 2:30 Arm Balance Workshop
Arm balances build focus and concentration and increase our body awareness and connectivity to the breadth. They work to cleanse the nervous system and exhilarate the body and mind.
In this workshop we will play with the techniques that serve to lengthen and strengthen the muscles required to successfully find your balance whilst maintaining lightness in the body. For those practitioners who are a little more advanced, we will introduce a variety of fun and challenging ways to transition to the next level.
3:00 - 5:00 Forward Bend&Inversion Workshop
Understanding the relationship between the abdominal muscles, pelvic floor and muscles of the inner thighs brings insight into the challenges of deep forward bends. Forward bending is a practice of introspection that requires a balance between strength and softness. This practice strengthens the core, releases the lower back and directs the breath into the deep recesses of our cells. In learning how to bend forward correctly, we are setting the foundation for building many other postures.
The inverted postures of yoga are some of the most beneficial yet intimidating of the asanas. You will be introduced to and practice postures such as headstand, forearm stand, handstand, and more. You will be guided through alignment, technique, proper modifications, and feel how to develop the power in your core strength. Learn to use the wall, or a buddy, as a way to continue practicing inversions beyond this class.
DAY TWO - (SAT 6 MAY 2017)
10:30 - 12:00 Hatha Master Class Level I
Focus is placed on grounding standing postures and establishing the foundation of a pose. The standing poses teach and allow us to move the spine in all directions: forward extensions, back extensions, side to side extensions, and lateral or twisting motions. We will exemplify both basic and advanced forms with step by step instructions on the execution of poses. This prepares the body for all categories of asanas. Standing poses are beneficial for strengthening of the legs, hips opening and improving sense of balance.
12:30 - 2:30 Hip Opening Workshop
The stress and activity of everyday life can often cause us to habitually move in certain ways and be in positions that lead to tightness and discomfort of our hips. In this workshop, we will focus on yoga asanas (postures) that will help release the tightness, tension, and pain in this area of our body.
This will be a deliciously challenging and flowing vinyasa sequence that will begin by creating heat and mobility in the joints and end with the long deep hip openers that our bodies crave!
3:00 - 5:00 Chest&Shoulder Opening Workshop
Many of us spend so much time hunched over a computer that it's impacting on our posture and the health of our spine. In this workshop we will prepare the body and practice a range of movements to open your chest and shoulders. We'll focus on cultivating a strong awareness of your own body's range of movement and explore techniques to enable you to expand this range over time in order to develop your on-going practice.
DAY THREE - (SUN 7 MAY 2017)
10:30 - 12:00 Hatha Master Class Level II
In this class we activate our power and move toward a higher purpose. We will study seated poses and how you can divide them into 4 groups. In addition, we turn our world upside-down, practicing inverted poses with variations of headstand and shoulderstand. They build strength in the shoulders and the upper back, nourish the endocrine system and bring clarity of mind.
12:30 - 2:30 Backbend Workshop
Back-bending can be one of the most challenging postures in our asana practice. Learn to backbend with strength & integrity in this workshop. We will find more space in your back bends whilst developing safe preparatory back bending skills that you can incorporate into your own practice. Many options will be offered to accommodate those with mobility restrictions. All are welcome.
3:00 - 5:00 Twists Workshop
The turning or twisting of the spine along with the abdomen in any asana is called Parivrtta Kriya. Twists create mobility in the spine by giving lateral rotational movement, these poses are essential for everyone since they delay aging of the muscles of the spine and back.
You will learn the necessary actions and arrows of movement to perform the Twists. And you will look at different bodies performing the same asana and visualize how by applying the correct actions you can bring the body in alignment physically and energetically.
