Marvellous Mutton Birds
Overview
Watch the sky come alive at sunset as Short-tailed Shearwaters return from a day at sea! You’ll gather on Muttonbird Island to witness this incredible natural event — a true highlight of the coast. As the birds swirl overhead and settle into their burrows, guides will share stories of their epic life cycle and migration from the Arctic to Australia, along with the obstacles they face along the way.
You’ll stay safe with clear viewing areas, barrier use, and reminders to bring torches. It’s a breathtaking experience that inspires both awe and appreciation for the resilience of our wildlife.
