Event description
‘Explore the Profound Arts of Qigong, Aikido and Nia’ with Fiona Mackillop, Pablo Coonan and Mandy Loveday

About this Event

This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to experience three different, but complementary practices. These martial art forms powerfully build your ‘life force energy’ for vitality and optimal wellbeing.

Qigong is a complementary approach to health, wellbeing and longevity and is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine. The practice combines energy gathering exercises, meditations and self-healing techniques to harmonise and powerfully build life force energy or ‘Qi’. It benefits all aspects of life.

Kokikai is a fluid style of Aikido that emphasizes natural movement, ‘Ki/Qi’ development, relaxation, good posture and mind-body coordination. The four basic principles are: keep one point (to develop calmness), relax progressively, find correct posture (in everything), develop a positive mind.

Nia is a conscious movement practice that blends the latest mind body science with ancient wisdom. It draws on three art forms Martial Arts, Dance Arts and Healing Arts and nine movement forms: Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Jazz, Modern Dance, Duncan Dance, Yoga, the Alexander Technique and the work of Moshe Feldenkrais®. There is no strict focus on technique - let your body feel and move.

This will be a light hearted, fun workshop. Beginners are welcome.

Mandy, Pablo and Fiona are trauma aware practitioners.
