Markets of Melbourne Food Issues Forum 2012
Tuesday, 4 September 2012 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am (AEST)
The Markets of Melbourne (Prahran, Queen Victoria and South Melbourne) are hosting a food issues forum on the topic of ‘Can We Afford Not to Eat Local?’ The forum is part of the second annual Market Week celebrations, highlighting some of the challenges the Victorian food industry is facing.
It aims to open dialogue on the importance of supporting local producers and growers and how the local economy will be affected if Victoria relies more heavily on produce imported from outside the country and/or state.
The event is set to be an educational and interactive experience for all involved, allowing guests the opportunity to hear what specialists in the industry have to say on the issue, whilst engaging with local food industry personnel, retail and wholesale representatives, key industry bodies, chefs and other keen local foodies.
Opening the discussion on, 'Can We Afford Not to Eat Local' will be a panel of four key players from our vibrant food industry. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and have their say.
This event is a proud part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Put Victoria on Your Table Spring Graze campaign.
Moderator: Richard Cornish
Panellists: Matt Wilkinson, Claude Baxter, Arabella Forge, more to be announced.
