Event description

Description

NDS South Australia in association with Essential, experts in disability sector marketing and communications, is hosting a half-day marketing strategy workshop to help service providers to better understand their audiences, set objectives and plan for the future.

The business model for disability service providers is changing. It means putting greater focus on communication and marketing strategies and allocating resources for ongoing engagement to attract and retain clients. The service offering and its delivery might also need to change to meet the demands of the new NDIS market.

The strategy workshop will be delivered using user-centred design principles, where the participants are asked to use empathy to see the world through the audience’s eyes.

User-Centre Design places the target audience at the centre of communications; understands motivations and contextualises issues from their worldview; builds messages tailored to the user’s worldview; and finds the user rather than expecting the user to find you.

The strategy workshop will help you gain valuable insights into:

  • The opportunity of the NDIS
  • Set objectives (internal and external)
  • Define audience segments and build personas
  • Develop language/messages based on audience personas
  • Define channels based on audience personas
  • Possible tools, materials, content and tactics to reach audience
  • How success will be measured.

All participants will receive a copy of the presentation to take with them and guide them through their own marketing plans.

The session will be facilitated by Bronwyn Hurrell and Kim Harlow.

Bronwyn Hurrell is the Associate Director of Arc Public, Essential’s government practice. She provides strategic communications planning and advice for the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion for the transition to the NDIS in South Australia. Bronwyn led the South Australian Premier’s Office Media Unit for five years as Chief Media Adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff and has an extensive knowledge of the government and media environment.

Kim Harlow is Essential’s head of digital and has strong experience in the disability sector, leading the digital delivery of the Every Australian Counts campaign to advocate for the establishment of the NDIS as well as leading the creative and digital campaign to support the South Australian Government’s transition to and rollout of the NDIS.
