The Manufacturing Futures Research Institute at Swinburne is proud to host industry leaders and partners from Germany, Dr Dominik Rohrmus and Prof Frithjof Klasen, at our inaugural forum focussed on the latest exciting developments and challenges in Industry 4.0.

At this forum you will hear from the Manufacturing Futures Research Institute team, who will provide you with an overview of the exciting research taking place at Swinburne in the areas of:

  • Next Generation Materials
  • Resilient Processes

Prof Frithjof Klasen, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Germany, will update you on the current trends in communication technology (e.g. PROFINET, OPC UA, TSN, 5G) with applications and experience from industrial projects.

Dr Dominik Rohrmus, Siemens AG, Germany, will follow with an overview of the Industry 4.0 Testlab network in Germany and 5G activities in Europe.

Dr Dominik Rohrmus

Siemens AG (Germany)

Dr Rohrmus is the head of the Manufacturing Systems research group at Siemens Corporate Technology. He is also managing director of Labs Network Industrie 4.0 e.V. (LNI4.0), a non-profit and pre-competitive German association to support the pioneering work of SMEs in the area of digitalisation.

Prof Frithjof Klasen

Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Germany)

Prof Frithjof Klasen is Professor at Cologne University of Applied Sciences where he leads the Institute of Automation and Industrial IT (AIT). He is Co-Director of the international Master Program “Automation & IT”.

His research and collaboration area of focus is the development and validation of concepts and technologies in the field of PROFINET, Industry 4.0 and IIOT.
