Event description

Description

Healthy mangroves help support healthy reefs. Discover the mangroves of Moreton Bay right here on our doorstep and how you can join with Wildlife Queensland Coastal Citizen Scientists to collect data on these important habitats.

MangroveWatch citizen science survey methods are scientifically rigorous but simple and easy to learn. Data collected by you can be compared with data collected previously by volunteers.

By being part of these ‘watch’ programs you can SEE the habitats, SCORE their conditions, and SAVE them by contributing to more informed management. The results help guide decision making in areas such as Marine Park planning and ecosystem health monitoring.

FAQs

Are there requirements for the event?

Boardwalk offers an accessible way to journey through the mangroves, but wear sturdy, close-toe shoes that are able to get wet/muddy; be sun smart; and carry drinking water. All ages welcome, but those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Parking and toilets are available at the Park.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
