Event Details

Working in vibrant, responsive 21st century libraries requires professionals with the behavioural knowledge and technical skills to lead teams and deliver the best experience for library users; and expertise in community engagement, change management, marketing and program development is essential.

The Managing the Business of Libraries Forum focuses on managing the business of libraries which is a priority of the State Library of Queensland’s VISION 2017 Learning Strategy

The forum aims to support public library workers to effectively manage a contemporary library service and will provide a diverse range of presentations and workshops that will focus on the following areas interest:

  • Customer service
  • Community engagement
  • Change management
  • Program development and evaluation
  • Digital engagement skills
  • Advocacy and marketing.

The Managing the Business of Libraries Forum will be a great way to start ALIA’s Library and Information Week which runs from 22-28 May 2017. This week aims to raise the profile of libraries and information service professionals in Australia, and the forum will give public library staff across Queensland the opportunity to come together to share knowledge, showcase and celebrate what amazing resources, facilities, events, programs and services public libraries provide their communities.

A draft program with further presenter and workshop details wil be available from the Public Libraries Connect website shortly.
