In recent times, there has been a focus on increasing the importance of Risk Management. Many companies have adopted the three lines of defence model which encompasses ownership of Risk by the business functions with oversight by an independent Risk function and Internal Audit. For financial services, Regulatory intervention and the landscape has reshaped the fundamentals of how a company can effectively manage it's risk appetite and to ensure a robust risk framework is operationalised.

This event, “Managing Risk: The Three Lines of Defence”, seeks to provide an overview and insight into how the three lines operate and interact with each other to contribute a company's risk management. Johan Santoso | Senior Technology Auditor

Johan Santoso is a Senior Technology Auditor at one of Australia's largest Insurance, and Banking & Wealth companies – Suncorp Group. Previous to his current role, Johan has worked in multiple audit and risk functions at both Deloitte and KPMG. Currently working in the Risk function, his day-to-day activities revolve around the execution of end to end internal audits of technology processes with a target on key risks facing the Insurance and Banking & Wealth sector. Johan holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales majoring in Finance and International Business. In addition, Johan is soon to be a Chartered Accountant and has also completed his ITIL foundational certificate. Johan's career trajectory is underpinned by his passions for risk, technology and data.

Johan's experience in Risk Advisory at the Big 4, in particular, Deloitte and KPMG, has given him opportunities to engage with management to identify critical control gaps in business processes and create more efficient and streamlined processes. Alongside regular processes, Johan has led a deep dive investigation into a major revenue leakage incident. At a more foundational level, Johan has also developed operational risk frameworks as well as information management policies, standards and frameworks. Being exposed to various industries has enabled Johan to capture the critical points of success in Risk Management as well as the areas where organisations can improve.

Johan is also passionate about imparting his knowledge and practical insights through events, mentoring and programs, to help support future high performers.
