Description

This ATDC MEMBERS ONLY Clinical workshop will begin with a discussion of personality, evaluation of personality traits, and common personality disorders in alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment. In particular, borderline, antisocial, psychopathic, narcissistic, and depressive personality traits will be reviewed in relation to motivational interviewing and immediacy techniques that may be used to overcome treatment non-compliance.The second part of the workshop will include practical diagnosis and differential diagnosis tasks, role playing immediacy and motivational techniques, and reflection on therapist barriers to implementing these strategies.

This workshop is for AOD clinical treatment staff.
