This one day training supports Managers/leaders of not for profit the organisation to understand the importance of undertaking effective performance management processes.

The program details the importance for leaders in understanding that performance management processes should be ongoing, and included as part of the employment cycle, a process that starts when the staff member commences, and continues through until they exit the organisation. It highlights the benefits in employing effective performance management strategies to assist in building a culture of high performance.

This program will also include a session titled ‘Courageous Conversations’ this overview explains to managers/leaders the importance of having the sometimes difficult conversations that are often part of the performance process. Courageous Conversations details the tips and tools to assist leaders in developing clear communications throughout the process.

Manage people, manage performance will provide participants with the skills to:

  • Give regular and effective feedback;

  • Develop strategies to manage poor performance;

  • Build rapport to generate trust and manage resistance;

  • Use effective communication techniques to empower others;

  • Set appropriate behavioural targets as well as other morequantifiable targets;

  • Address poor performance before it spirals;

  • Create a culture that fosters high performance and high expectations;

  • Strategies on how to provide effective feedback;

  • Understanding of what works, and importantly, what doesn’t;

This workshop will be presented by Margaret Balsillie, Human Resource Management Consultant. Margaret Balsillie joined the Industrial Relations team at Jobs Australia in January 2011 as an HR Consultant. She has extensive HR/IR experience within the Technical and Further Education (TAFE) environment. More recently she has worked as a Project Manager for the TAFE Development Centre which leads VET Workforce Development to enhance the capability of people working within the VET sector in Victoria. In addition to her extensive experience within the HR/IR field, Margaret has a Graduate Certificate in Management and Advanced Diploma in Human Resources.
