Event description

Description

For parents and educators, managing a child in meltdown can be upsetting, exhausting and overwhelming for both the adult and the child involved. Understanding why meltdowns occur and what we can do to help can make a big difference to a child who is out of control and assist with achieving positive outcomes both at home and at preschool or school.

This presentation will discuss the difference between tantrums and meltdowns, explore what causes meltdowns in children, describe the stages of a meltdown and how we can effectively manage a child in each stage, and discuss strategies for reducing and preventing meltdowns at home and out in the community.

Suitable for Parents, Educators and Support Staff.

Presented by Child Psychologist, Raelene Dundon.
