Managing high-risk clinical care through subcontractors
Event Information
About this event
Why is managing high-risk clinical care through subcontractors important?
In the Commission's Aged Care Quality Bulletin #35 - November 2021, the Commission highlighted 5 key risks including clinical care. When clinical care is delivered by a sub/contractor it can increase the risk to consumers and the organisation.
Many home care services LPA support have encountered challenges where clinical care has been delivered through sub/contractors. The reasons for this are many and not insurmountable. Utilising sub/contractors for the delivery of clinical care can be a sensible and viable option if managed well.
Where it is not managed well, we see issues such as: lack of continuity in care, poor communication, dissatisfied consumers, key care issues being missed, consumer needs are unmet, deteriorating conditions not identified and or not communicated,
All of these issues can lead to poor outcomes for consumers and non-compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards.

In this webinar, we will focus on contemporary practice in relation to managing high-risk clinical care through sub/contractors. You will come away with clarity and practical steps to managing sub/contractors. You will know what to include in agreements and contractors and what you need to avoid.
