Managing high-impact and high-prevalence risks effectively
Event Information
About this event
Why is managing high-impact or high-prevalence risks important?
Effective management of high impact or high prevalence risks has consistently featured in the "Top 10" incidence of non-compliance in home care services for 2020 and 2021. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission's recent Sector Performance Reports, this is listed under Requirement 3(3)(b):
So, why are providers failing to meet this requirement? Our work with clients shows that many home care services do not have sufficient clinical oversight including robust systems, processes and controls to identify, monitor and manage high-impact and high-prevalence risks. We have found that sometimes frontline staff have not been trained to identify, report and document changes in relation to high-impact and high-prevalence risks to consumers. This not only places consumers at risk, but it can result in non-compliance and reputational damage to the organisation.
