Resilience is that underlying capacity to bounce-forward from tough demands and difficult circumstances, including the enduring strength that builds from coping well with challenging or stressful situations. Resilience is a combination of personality, job/work attitudes, and learned skills, and it can be developed.
There is confronting evidence that leadership practices strongly influence the resilience and performance of staff and impact on absenteeism and retention. Join us for this brief, interactive session where guest speaker, Carol Lewis, will identify the key management approaches that protect the wellbeing of direct service staff and help them practise effectively and sustainably.
- developing a culture where open discussion about the emotional demands of the work is normalised and facilitated
- identifying signs of stress in staff at an early stage and monitoring
- championing the benefits of resilience
- role modelling self-care
- developing key leadership attributes: approachability, emotional literacy, self awareness, reflective skills, appropriate empathy, optimism (but not unrealistically so).
Who should participate?
This workshop is for CHSP/Disability Services Managers only.
