Event description

Description

The Royal Commission into the Institutional Sexual Abuse of Children interviewed 6,875 survivors in private sessions and approximately one in six of them spoke about sexual abuse by another child. They identified that "there is a general lack of knowledge and limited education about the issue within the community, and this is reflected in the inadequate institional responses we learned about." (Final Report, vol 10: 10)

Do you feel confident knowing what sexual behaviours are developmentally normal for children and young people as they grow up?

Do you know how to intervene to protect children who display non-abusive sexual behaviours?

Do you know how to intervene and safety plan for children and young people who display potentially harmful sexual behaviours?

Does your organisation have a process for identification and referral for children displaying problem sexual behaviours and how to work with their family systems?

If you answered No to any of these questions and you currently work with children or young people or manage people who do, this training is for you.

The North Queensland Evolve Therapeutic Services professional development workshops are provided free of charge for all people working with children & young people who may have experienced trauma. For the first time Management of Problem Sexual Behaviour in Children and Young People is being offered in Townsville as a one-day program.
