Description

For GPs & Nurses

This education session will provide attendees with information on the minimally invasive intervention and treatment options available for arterial and venous diseases. The presenters will also provide an update on current guidelines and referral pathways for managing patients with symptomatic varicose veins.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Describe signs and symptoms for threatened ischaemic limb & claudication and summarise the management of patients with peripheral arterial disease

  • Discuss appropriate investigations to assess arterial perfusion and explain treatment options - open surgery vs minimally invasive intervention

  • Explain the signs and symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency and asymptomatic /cosmetic varicose veins and discuss investigations and management options available.

  • Review current guidelines for referring patients with symptomatic varicose veins.
