Event description

Description

The Mallee Children and Youth Area Partnership aims to ensure all children and young people in our region can live safe from harm and have every opportunity to live happy, healthy and successful lives. Following the Developmental Evaluation of Area Partnerships last year, the Area Partnerships have increased their focus on community engagement and we are now strategically developing tools and working on enhancing learning, monitoring and evaluation for the initiative as a whole and for working groups.

The Most Significant Change (MSC) technique that was co-developed by Jess Dart, Founding Director of Clear Horizon, has been identified as an effective tool for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Area Partnerships’ strategies as well as building the learning capacity across the initiative.

The technique enables genuine engagement with communities on changes they think are most important to them and which result from your work and provides a framework for conducting interviews with community members, writing stories that reflect changes in the community as well as having a process for decision-making on what stories are considered most significant for leaders and partners in the initiative that demonstrate the intended impact. This is an effective engagement as well as evidence collection tool which has been tested with numerous communities across different settings overseas and in Australia, including with the Aboriginal communities.

The MSC course is designed to provide a level of operational competency sufficient for participants to take a lead role in the promotion, planning and implementation of an MSC process within the Children and Youth Area Partnerships context.
