This 2.5hr worksop presented by industry experts Stephen Gallagher of Ngala and Deanne Hislop of My FIFO Family will arm you with all the tools you need to make the FIFO lifestyle work better for you and your family.

This fun, engaging and hands on workshop will be covering everything from sleep, tantrums, dealing with extended family and friends as well as how to make the most of your R n R, male and female relationship expectations, managing emotions during fly out days and keeping your family connected and communicating well!

All participants will leave with a tonne of practical tips to implement, access to a closed fb page to share your experiences and gain further support, as well as receiving your very own take home pack of goodies including a copy of "My Boomerang Dad".


Morning tea will be provided along with some time to chat and meet other FIFO parents.

About the presenters:

Stephen is father to two boys who remind him that life is short and yet still ask him if he was born when dinosaurs roamed the earth. He loves nothing more than spending time recreating as a family, through sailing, cycling, skating and being taught repeatedly he can’t win on the PlayStation!

Stephen is an educator, counselor, innovator and communicator who likes humor and relevance in his work. He has worked with families and organizations in many different community contexts for over 25 years. He is experienced supporting the needs of parents and families around changing relationships across the lifespan.

Stephen has worked with Resource companies to develop FIFO resources and workshops that support the parenting and relationship needs of their families. This has seen him provide these workshops to workers on sites across the state, offshore and in the community for their families.

Stephen has a Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Education, Licientiate of Family and Marriage counselling and Bachelor of Social work.

Deanne Hislop is mum to two firey redheads, a building biologist specialising in childrens environemntal exposures and lover of all thigs four legged. She is the founder of My Fifo Family, and author of "My Boomerang Dad". Having worked with families both at home and on site she is well versed in FIFO life, the ups the downs and the struggles that can occur when parenting young children.

Deanne has spent the last 5 years donating her time to providing resopurce companies with the tools to help make FIFO a more sustainable lifestyle for those with young families. Over the past 5 years My Fifo Family has raised tens of thousands of dollars for not for profit organisations that support the FIFO worker and their family.

Coming from working with families in a remote mining town to becoming a FIFO parent herself Deanne comes with a swag of practical tips to keep everyone well connected and happy.
