Making It Better - Again
Event Information
Description
Following our recent Making It Better Workshop as part of Sydney Craft Week, Shared Threads is pleased to invite you to a follow up workshop - Making it Better - Again. Newcomers are of course welcome. No experience necessary.
We will engage in some mindful and restorative stitching with an emphasis on visible repairs and patches using the principals of embroidery and applique that we started exploring in our last workshop.
And - we will open up the discussion about what it means to make mindfully and how making might improve our well being.
Materials will be supplied but you can also bring your works in progress, scraps of fabric and items needing repair such as an injured or aging pair of jeans or a jumper. Sewing machines will be available if you want to make up an embroidered bag or cushion If you have an old jumper in wool, mohair or alpaca that is feltable (not machine washable, not synthetic), you may wish to throw it in a hot wash and then the dryer and bring it along to work with (a satisfying anarchic gesture). Felted jumpers make great embroidery surfaces.
A delicious afternoon tea will be served. (please let us know if you have allergies).
