Event description

Description

Post-war migrants who arrived in Australia in the 50s and 60s are a generation that is departing. Despite hardship, deprivation and sacrifice this generation were significant contributors to Australia’s progress and diversity, supporting their children to become professionals, academics, politicians, artists and successful business people. Their departure should not leave a vacuum.

Digital technology allows families to work together to record these experiences for posterity. Developed as part of a project funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, My Life: My Legacy is a practical manual which explores simple ways to digitally record your family’s history as a valuable legacy to your descendants. Virginia Orfanos will share tips from this manual and some of the rich cultural heritage captured in this project as well the ongoing ‘Greeks of Northcote’ project, funded by the City of Darebin.
