Hands-on professional development workshops to help you plan, organise and run makerspace activities in your library and community spaces.

About this Event

Join the team from The Learning Space, City of Canada Bay Libraries, for these hands-on workshops designed to help you plan, organise and run makerspace activities in your own library and community spaces. Each workshop will: help you understand the different audiences for these technologies and how to use them; introduce platforms, resources, equipment, and material; discuss setups and safety issues for makerspace activities; and engage you in a hands-on activity designed to build skills and understanding. Suitable for all program staff in youth, digital engagement, and community programming.

Introducing Wearable Tech : Crossing seamlessly between traditional making, fashion, design, and electronics, wearable tech has great appeal, and is a great way to introduce electronics to diverse groups. Wednesday 29 May, 9:00am-3:00pm

Creating Environments for 3D Printing and Modelling : What do you need to set up successful 3d printing and modelling in your library? We'll go through some of the basic engagement models, and talk printers, safety issues, and public usage. Wednesday 5 June, 9:00am-3:00pm

Opportunities for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality : From high end gaming to DIY phone solutions, VR and AR aren't only for the most tech savvy. We'll look at a range of platforms and approaches to introduce VR and AR to your community. Friday 7 June, 9:00am-3:00pm

All workshops include lunch, refreshments, and resources
