Event description

Description

A chance for budding designers to get creative! Participants have the chance to contribute their creativity and have small part in the new exhibition. Create designs for bunting for the upcoming Balik Tanaw exhibition launch (8 July at 1.30pm) and the Philippines Family Fun Day (Sunday 16 July) .

Festivals and Fiestas in the Philippines are exciting and fun. And there is always lots of bunting to decorate the streets and parks. Help the Peacock Gallery prepare the gallery for a fiesta- for the opening of the new exhibition that is part of the Bayanihan Philippine Art Project.

Also opportunity to create items for the Bayanihan Hopping Spirit House.

MORE ABOUT THE EXHIBITION -BALIK TANAW 8 July- 3 September

Artists Ernest Aaron, Alberto Estanislao, Jessa Melicor and Alwin Reamillo have explored the notion of the Filipino ‘home’ both here in Western Sydney and in the Philippines. The artists convert the gallery to become a ‘home’ responding to aspects of culture and tradition that are recognisable as part of the Philippine diaspora.

The Bayanihan Philippine Art Project is a partnership project which includes exhibitions at the Art Gallery of NSW, Blacktown Arts Centre, Campbeltown Arts Centre, Mosman Art Gallery and the Peacock Gallery. Balik Tanaw (Looking Back) is funded by Cumberland Council and Create NSW.

Note: Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 years+ who are welcome to join in.
